Shopify and Amazon
Connect your online store and your team sees each sale the moment it comes in: a new Shopify order, an Amazon order shipped by Amazon’s warehouse, a refund, or the money Amazon pays out to your bank. Nobody has to keep the Shopify admin or Seller Central open all day.
Each alert is a card with the order number, what was bought, the amount and an Open in Shopify or Open in Seller Central button that takes you straight to the order. The cards come from Shopify or Amazon, so nobody’s account is borrowed.
Alerts never show the buyer. No names, emails, phone numbers or addresses: only the order, the items and the amounts. Messages in a channel are kept, and buyers’ details belong in your store, not in chat. Amazon’s rules for sellers’ apps don’t allow keeping them either.
Only owners and admins can connect stores, in Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Commerce. Each store posts to one channel; connect the same store twice to post to two channels.
Choose what to post
Section titled “Choose what to post”When you connect a store, or later from its ⋯ menu → Edit, pick:
- Post to channel. Sales figures are private, so a private channel for the people who run the store works best. Alerts in a private channel are only visible to admins who are in it.
- Alerts to post:
- New orders: each order once it’s paid for.
- Shipped orders: orders fulfilled in Shopify, or shipped by you or by Amazon.
- Cancelled orders: orders cancelled by you or the buyer.
- Refunds (Shopify): money given back to a buyer, with what was refunded.
- Payouts (Amazon): each settlement Amazon pays out to your bank account.
- Smallest amount to post. Orders, refunds and payouts below it are left out, so a busy store doesn’t drown the channel.
Connect Shopify
Section titled “Connect Shopify”Shopify needs two steps: you give Shopify a URL, and Shopify gives you a key.
- In Freesbe, open Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Commerce, click Connect under Shopify, pick the channel and the alerts, and click Next. Freesbe shows the Webhook URL. Copy it now: for your security it’s only shown once.
- In your Shopify admin, open Settings → Notifications → Webhooks and click Create webhook once for each of these events: Order creation, Order fulfillment, Order cancellation and Refund create. Leave out any you don’t want. For each, pick JSON, paste the URL and pick the newest API version.
- Under the list of webhooks Shopify shows Your webhooks will be signed with and a key. Copy the key, paste it into Webhook signing key in Freesbe and click Save key.
Until the key is saved the store shows Needs signing key and Freesbe turns Shopify’s deliveries away. Click Paste signing key on it to finish. Shopify’s Send test notification button posts a made-up order, so you can check it works.
Orders placed with Shopify’s test payments say Test order: Yes.
Connect Amazon
Section titled “Connect Amazon”Amazon doesn’t send webhooks to other apps’ URLs, so you approve Freesbe in Seller Central once and Freesbe checks your account for new orders and payouts every ten minutes.
- In Freesbe, open Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Commerce and click Connect under Amazon.
- Pick Where your seller account is: North America; Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa; or the Far East. It’s the Seller Central you sign in to.
- Pick the channel and the alerts and click Continue to Seller Central.
- Sign in to Seller Central if it asks, check the box and click Confirm. Amazon sends you back to Freesbe, which says Amazon connected.
The first alerts arrive within ten minutes of the first sale after you connect: Freesbe doesn’t post orders from before you connected. Orders waiting for the buyer’s payment (Amazon’s Pending) are posted once they’re paid for.
Freesbe asks Amazon for orders and settlements only. It doesn’t ask for buyers’ names or addresses, and it doesn’t change anything in your account.
If you remove Freesbe in Seller Central (Apps and Services → Manage Your Apps), or Amazon stops accepting it, the store shows Needs approval again and nothing more is posted. Click Approve in Seller Central on it to connect again.
Test, turn off and disconnect
Section titled “Test, turn off and disconnect”From a store’s ⋯ menu:
- Send a test alert posts a sample order into the channel, marked as a sample.
- Turn off stops posting without forgetting the store. Turn on starts again from now: what happened while it was off isn’t posted.
- Delete disconnects it and Freesbe forgets the signing key or Amazon’s access. For Shopify, also delete the webhooks in Shopify so it stops sending.
For developers
Section titled “For developers”The API reference lists the endpoints these screens use. Shopify
delivers to https://api.freesbe.net/hooks/commerce/shopify/<token>, and Freesbe checks each
delivery’s X-Shopify-Hmac-Sha256 signature before posting it.
