Post Shopify orders into a channel

Connect Shopify and the people who run your store see each new order, fulfillment, cancellation and refund in a channel the moment it happens. It takes two trips between Freesbe and Shopify: you give Shopify a URL, and Shopify gives you a key. You need to be a Freesbe owner or admin and able to change your store’s notification settings in Shopify.

Alerts show the order number, what was bought and the amounts, never the buyer’s name, email or address.

1. Get the webhook URL from Freesbe

1. Open Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Commerce and click Connect under Shopify.
2. Pick Post to channel, tick the Alerts to post and, if you like, a Smallest amount to post.
3. Click Next. Freesbe shows the Webhook URL, which looks like https://api.freesbe.net/hooks/commerce/shopify/…. Copy it now: it’s only shown once.

Keep this window open for step 3.

2. Add the webhooks in Shopify

1. In your Shopify admin, open Settings → Notifications and scroll to Webhooks.
2. Click Create webhook. Pick the event Order creation, the format JSON, paste the URL, pick the newest Webhook API version and save.
3. Do the same for Order fulfillment, Order cancellation and Refund create, with the same URL. Leave out any you don’t want posted.
4. Under the list of webhooks Shopify says Your webhooks will be signed with and shows a key. Copy it.

3. Paste the key into Freesbe

Paste the key into Webhook signing key and click Save key. Until you do, the store shows Needs signing key and Freesbe turns Shopify’s deliveries away. If you closed the window, click Paste signing key on the store.

To check it works, click Send test notification next to one of the webhooks in Shopify: a made-up order shows up in the channel.

If you lost the URL

For your security Freesbe shows the URL only once. Delete the store from its ⋯ menu, connect again and replace the URL in each of Shopify’s webhooks.
